About the Gazette

My name is Tugs, and I am the person behind this project.

Hello and welcome.

Hello and welcome to The Neighbourhood Gazette! My name is Tugs, and I am the person behind this project.

This project started off as an interest in journaling. After vibe-coding my own journal, I realized that as well as documenting my own days, it would be really nice to hear about the lives of people across Melbourne, too.

That’s what brought me to the idea for this website. Big Neighbourhood is essentially intended to be a current snapshot of the people who live in Melbourne and a window into their worlds. In a world where we are hyper-connected but often don’t know our neighbours, I thought it could be really sweet to bridge that gap.

Once I have curated the first edition, I am going to be distributing these gazettes to cafes, neighbourhood hubs, and little street libraries around Melbourne. I’m really excited for this project! I think it could be a lovely way to learn more about the people of Melbourne.

If you’d like to be part of the project, please consider submitting your answer and uploading a photo you’ve taken that is special to you. If your submission is accepted (which it most likely will be, save for the odd internet troll!), I will send you a confirmation email, along with updates on where the gazette is being stocked.

Hope you’re well <3
